Orthophosphoric Acid, or Phosphoric Acid is a mineral triacid obtained by combustion of phosphorus or treatment of phosphate ores. It is a strong acid used as an antioxidant in food and as a pH regulator in soft drinks. In animal feed it is used as a preservative in liquid formulations. In industry it is used in detergents, surface stripping, in fertilizers and is also used for metals phosphating to protect from oxidation.
